Stop Being a Slave to Being Less Than

In this episode of The Spiritual Realest, I’m talking about freedom in a deeper way.

Juneteenth is not just a date on the calendar. It is a reminder of what happens when people are kept bound by evil intentions, lack of knowledge, and systems that benefit from them not knowing they are already free. But that kind of bondage did not stop in the past. A lot of us are still mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and even religiously enslaved to things that no longer serve who we are becoming.

I’m asking the real question: what are you still allowing yourself to remain captive to?

A relationship? A job? A title? A tradition? A belief system? A version of yourself that was shaped by fear, obedience, survival, or validation?

In this conversation, I reflect on Juneteenth, mental slavery, religion, curiosity, spiritual knowledge, and what it really means to seek wisdom, understanding, and truth for yourself. We also talk about frankincense, spiritual elevation, divine truth, and how every path worth walking should lead you back to deeper awareness.

This week, I want you to sit with three questions:

What have you always believed?
 Why do you still believe it?
 And does it still align with who you are today?

We're gonna start with our soundbowl to clear out any negative energy or any distractions while we spend this time together. And today we have the resin. We have it in our diffuser. You can take the resin and actually put it little beads directly into your diffuser. You can burn this. You can also boil this. But this is a way to have the energy of frankincense in the atmosphere. If you can't burn it, you can just actually place some pellets into the diffuser. So today we're gonna talk about Juneteenth, and not in a way that you may think. Really, it's in the way of evil intentions of people and how it can hold you hostage and bound because of their evil intentions. For instance, slaves in Texas were still bound in slavery, even though slavery had been abolished over two years before. That is what I mean by the evil intent of people. Evil intent binds you even when you're already free. That is the humanality of evilness. For example, you have spouses that cheat on you. That spouse purposely, intentionally lied to you, manipulated you, went around what they knew was good for you for their own personal evil intent. It could be a business partner who's skimming off the top. Their evil intent keeps you longer than you wanna stay, costs you more than you wanna pay, and binds you to something that you're not even supposed to be in. Even though slavery was abolished a while ago, we are still held captive by slavery. Let me explain. We are slaves to our responsibility, we are slaves to our jobs, we are slaves to our way of life. We become slaves to our relationship. And let me take you through the definition of slave. The figurative definition of slavery is one who works extremely hard and is controlled by that thing. So, for instance, you could work really hard in your relationship to be the perfect mate, male or female. You can work really hard in your parenthood to be the perfect mother or father. You can work really hard to be the best entrepreneur you could be, meaning you want to go to the top. You can be work really hard at being the best content creator. You are a slave to that. That is something that holds you, binds you to that thing. The problem is are you moving in purpose or are you just a slave to the mentality of what society said you should be? Are you a slave to your religion? I'm gonna let that sit right there. Because a lot of us are slaves to traditions that serve us no good. Traditions that are causing us to neglect our inner man, or our true calling, or our true purpose, because we are a slave to validation. We want society or our parents or the look of to be so perfect until we are intertwined with that identity. What are you a slave to? What are you gonna do to break the chains? What are you gonna do to move yourself forward? Because here's the thing: we do not have to stay in mental slavery. We do not have to subdue ourselves and make ourselves smaller for the edification of anybody else. What we have to do is challenge ourselves, move in a way that is satisfying to your person, to who you are. Because here's the thing: we do not under any circumstances belong in slavery to a relationship, to a situation, to a person, to a thing, to anything outside of our given purpose. Remember that just because you have a mentor or someone that you admire or someone that helps you move forward doesn't mean that you have to be enslaved to that line, that lane, that avenue. If you have a better method to do something, then do it. The student surpasses the master all the time. That's how elevation happens. And if it's a good master, they're gonna allow you to do so. They're gonna want you to do so. Because my point in life is that my child be better than me, that my child comes into the understanding of who she is way before I did. The purpose is to be better than the one before, because that is how you make change. I know that we have these internal conflicts between obedience and curiosity. For instance, you're curious about tarot reading, but you want to be obedient to your birth religion, you're curious about Reiki, but you want to be obedient to the laws that you were taught. You want to be obedient to Jesus, but you understand and have a curiosity to speak to your ancestors. You're not enslaved to it, you're not enslaved to Jesus, you're not enslaved to religion, you're not enslaved to a master or a pastor or a teacher or a leader. Your curiosity leads you down the path of righteousness for God's namesake. So in every religion that we have, that we study, that we know of, all of them have a scripture or a verse or a proverb or a mind about knowledge. Let me just tell you. Here, I'm gonna read them so that you guys will know I'm not speaking off the dome, but I am speaking about true knowledge. Here we go. In Proverbs 4 and 7. Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom. And with all thy getting, get understanding. In the Quran 2, 269, he grants wisdom to whom he wills, and none will remember except those of understanding. In Buddhism, 19 and 20 idea, even if a person recites many teachings but do not understand or live them, they are like a cow herd counting others' cattle. In Hinduism, 4 and 34, approach those who have realized the truth. They will instruct you in knowledge. And in Ephi, apart a key, knowledge without understanding leads to confusion. Those are several different religions that talk about gaining wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. So, who are you to not gain wisdom, knowledge, and understanding? What have you always believed? Why do you still believe it? And does it still align to who you are today? Take this week and reflect on how to break free from that bondage. I'm scholarly drow, heavenly minded, but always earthly good. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. Stop being a slave to being less than.
